Setting up the Fluval Roma 200 aquarium with Fluval 205 external filter
December 16th, 2008 by Katie
This has been my first experience of setting up a larger tank with an external filter. I thought I’d share my experiences for anybody in a similar situation. So, this is how I set up the tank and filter (with suggestions as to how you could do it better than me!):
I carefully positioned the tank (remembering that, when water’s been added, it will be impossible to move!).
I wiped the...Dealing with white spot or ich in mollies
December 9th, 2008 by Katie
Since I first encountered it, I’ve learnt more about white spot or ich in mollies.
If you have a molly which has white spots, here are some things to try:
1. Add a little aquarium salt to tank (1 tablespoon for every 5 gallons of water in aquarium). In the wild, mollies live in freshwater. However, in captivity, mollies are successfully kept in slightly brackish water. The bacteria which cause...Molly fry – 6 weeks old
December 9th, 2008 by Katie
The molly fry are now 6 weeks old. They are eating the same crushed up flake food which I feed the adult fish. I feed them 3 times per day and they are always excited to be fed. December 6th, 2008 by Katie
Yesterday, my new tank arrived from aquariums-delivered.co.uk. It’s a 200l tank and, therefore, much larger than my other tanks. I ordered the matching cabinet to support the weight of the tank which, when set up, will weigh over 200kg.
The box containing the tank arrived speedily and safely, in spite of not being wrapped in even a single layer of bubble wrap! The tank only had polystyrene...Tetra AquaArt light (3rd update)

The efficient Customer Services department at Tetra contacted me today regarding my ongoing light problems. They have offered me another replacement lid and to take my current lid in for investigation. However, I’m getting increasingly frustrated with my choice of tank.
Tetra AquaArt light (2nd update)
December 3rd, 2008 by Katie
Well, my new lid arrived and everything was great. I could see the molly babies who have been growing fast. Then, yesterday, the light went out and will not switch on. I contacted TetraUK by email 24 hours ago but they haven’t got back to me yet. It sounds so implausible: the replacement for the faulty lid being faulty itself. I’m wondering if anyone else is having similar problems...New Tank!
December 1st, 2008 by Katie
After some careful consideration, I’ve decided that I’m ready to move on to a larger tank. I’ve opted for a Fluval Roma 200l aquarium and cabinet. There’s a lot of choice out there but I selected the Fluval Roma range for a number of reasons:
Hagen products have a good reputation.
The tank comes with Fluval 205 external filter and 200w Fluval Tronic heater.
In my opinion,...
